Shellcast NAPEC High Security Hasp
Heavy duty padlock hasp for the Sargent & Greenleaf 833/951 padlocks. It is cast from corrosion resisting steel and heat treated for maximum strength and durability. It has three square holes per side (6 total) to mount the unit using carriage bolts. Additionally, the unit can be welded on permanently. Each side of the hasp is mounted so that when the door to be secured is shut, the two sides of the hasp are perfectly inline and ready to be secured with a padlock. When used, the hasp covers roughly the top 50% of the S&G 833/951 including all of the shackle that is exposed and limits movement of the lock to around 15 degrees in any given direction. The hasp also limits access to the bottom of the lock making picking or bumping attacks nearly impossible (the S&G 833/951 use Medeco Biaxial cylinders that may be compromised by skilled attackers).
Padlock hasps are made of steel and designed to prevent easy attack of the padlock itself. Hasps are generally mounted using through bolts or welding preventing easy removal of the hasp. Padlock hasps help reduce the chance of bolt cutters being able to access the lock and making grinding attacks far harder.
Most padlock hasps are handed meaning depending on how the door opens can decide which hasp model should be used.
If the door is outward opening (where outward is towards the surface the hasp is mounted on):
If the fixed mounting surface is on the left side you want a right handed hasp. If the door that is opening outward is on the left side you want a left handed hasp.
For inward opening doors:
If the fixed mounting surface is on the left side you want a left handed hasp. If the door that is opening outward is on the left side you want a right handed hasp.
For sliding doors:
The handedness does not matter.
